Project 1-Footprint

The Footprint activity is a great project for getting to know your students and their artistic abilities. It allows students to get creative and think about what they want to share about themselves with the class. First, you trace your foot on a large piece of construction paper and cut it out. Then, you can allow students to use three media pieces to show their interests and hobbies. They will need to be included in their own unique way. There should be a decent amount of used space. My explanation of my symbols:

Airplane: I love to travel and go to new places. I have been to 15 states and want to travel the world one day.

Violin and music notes: Music is a big part of my life, and I have played violin for 15 years. I have been a part of many orchestra groups.

Books: I love to read just about anything. I always think the book is better than the movie.

Stitch: I grew up watching Lilo and Stitch. I would watch that movie every day when I was younger, and I still watch it to this day.

Family: I love spending time with my family; mom, dad, and older sister.

Paw print: I have a mini golden doodle named Bella, and she is my world.

Extension Activity: For one activity you could have the students write a paragraph about each item on their footprint and why it is important to them, or you could have the student pick one of the items on their footprint and tell a story or memory they have with the item.  Then the students can share their writing with the class and have them hang their footprints and writing around the room.
